Tiba + Marl Members at Huckletree West Workspace

Well, here we are again…!

The festive furore is fast approaching. Before we settle into a Home Alone marathon with eggnog to match, let’s catch up on the latest blockbuster moments across our community.

Get ready for the latest on Fairer Funding Now (Dublin style), the VR game you’ll be obsessed with for the foreseeable future and brand mashups you need to know about in a Huckletree workspace near you!

Ever found yourself trapped in a futuristic labyrinth, with only a particular set of paths to unlock the truth and escape? Us neither, that was until we found ourselves immersed (see what we did there?) in Arca’s Path. A dark fairytale, the premise challenges players to escape a glitchy, crystalline labyrinth they’ve been trapped in by a wicked android witch…
This latest release from Huckletree West gaming gurus Dream Reality Interactive is the indie VR wonderland we’ve all been waiting for – and uses head-tracking tech for an entirely gaze controlled experience. Yep, no controllers are necessary for this chilled out immersive adventure. Grab a free Arca’s Path audio track by Ninja Tunes artist Raffertie and get your hands on the game here!

It’s a tricky, yet inevitable, problem for all you Power Parents… how can you focus on your career, whilst making sure the kiddos are in safe hands? Let’s not even mention trying to organise a grownup night out! Members bubble are on the case. The award-winning babysitting platform, which suggests local sitters trusted by your friends and network, has just announced their partnership with Uber. They’ve teamed up with the ride-sharing giant to offer their employees premium access! That means free access to trusted childcare for Uber employees and a massive step towards flexibility in the workspace.
Did we mention Huckletree West members have access to awesome bubble babysitters through our Kids Studio?

On the hunt for some last minute Christmas gift grabs? Look no further. Ultra-cool accessories brand for parents, Tiba + Marl has got you covered, thanks to their seriously ‘gram worthy collab with urban apothecary, Honest Skincare. You’ve probably already spotted their Calming Candle in Elle, Grazia and Red this month. Combining soothing notes of patchouli, clove and mandarin, it’s designed for busy parents and mums-to-be in need of chill vibes.
Eco-warriors have nothing to fear, either. Honest has crafted the candle from soy wax from a renewable source with an eco-friendly cotton wick. You can even repurpose the super stylish amber glass jar when you’re done burning!  Top tip: this Christmas, founders Anna and Lydia are donating £10 for every Tiba + Marl bag to Family Action’s 2018 Toy Appeal. A good deed and a gift that special someone will love – win, win!

Since graduating from our in-house accelerator, the Alpha Programme, Safe & The City, and its founder Jillian Kowalchuk, have been on one heck of a journey. The now multi-award winning, over-crowdfunded platform aims to make our cities safer, and smarter. When they’re not spreading the word about their awesome app, the team are securing pioneering Safe Sites around our cities. We’re proud to say our Huckletree Shoreditch workspace is now a place of refuge in emergency situations! Find out more about the inspiring mission behind the startup, and why we’re joining the cause.

It all started with a mysterious social media countdown and a giant robot on the Stay Curious couches. Customer delight experts, and Huckletree Shoreditch OGs, Bonjoro are pros at making their customers feel all warm and fuzzy (here’s how!)… so when they dropped a hint that something major was in the works, we kept a close eye on them. Last week, they launched Bonjoro Community on Facebook. It’s a place for their users to learn even more about customer engagement, interact with each other and get their hands on some pretty awesome content. Find out more about it here

Who inspires you? Diversity in tech advocates Inspiring 50 and Accelerate-HER just released the 2018 list of UK Women in Tech. We were thrilled (but of course, not surprised) to see some pretty strong repping from the Huckletree crew. Big shoutout to Huckletree Ambassador and Mums in Technology founder, June Angelides, who was named in the awesome list of women in tech who are visible role models for the next generation. Congratulations, June! Get inspired by the full list now

If you haven’t heard about Fairer Funding Now, where have you been?! Our campaign calling for greater diversity in the founders receiving startup funding made its way to the green isle this month for the next wave of the conversation. We brought together startups and the VC community to discuss the issues at hand, and how the whole industry can make positive changes. An awesome panel including TechIreland’s Niamh Bushnell, Will McQuillan of Frontline Ventures and NDRC’s Angela Duffy – all moderated by our very own Aislinn Mahon. Here’s how it all went down

“There’s no template for life. Find the thing you love doing and do more of it!”

Listen up, this is the podcast you should be downloading, now! Not content with compering our Fairer Funding Now debate and running our Dublin workspace, Team Huckletree’s Aislinn caught up with Niamh Maher, and the Girls With Goals team to talk all things Huckletree D2, her passion for yoga and how she’s managing her social media ban. Your commute is about to get a whole lot more interesting…

Looking ahead to 2019? Starting the hunt for your team’s new workspace? Book your tour today and join our awesome members.
